Anne Carlson
Anne was raised in a small lake town, Chapin, South Carolina. She enjoyed water sports, played on her high school tennis team, spent winter vacations skiing out West, and found time to relax playing piano and listening to all kinds of music. Upon completion of high school, Anne accepted an academic scholarship to attend Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was excited to trade in the comforts of small-town Chapin for the vivacious, city life. She flourished in the college environment and was fascinated by the culture of the area, rich in history, music, food and people of various backgrounds. She thoroughly embraced, “laissez les bons temps rouler!”
She worked at Hemline in New Orleans, helping women find the perfect outfits and accessories. She spent her summers working there, enjoying the experience and applying business skills in the retail market. In 2004, she completed her degree at Tulane in Finance, graduating from the AB Freeman School of Business. She returned to South Carolina to join the family business. She worked as a licensed dental hygienist until she made a decision that changed her life forever. She moved to Charlotte and became a North Carolinian. Most importantly, in 2016, she gave birth to her most precious gift, Luke. She grew in responsibility caring for a little one and realizing the most important value of commitment and love. After Luke was born, they visited the mountains of Western North Carolina frequently. The mountains offered a special escape from the city life of Charlotte. As the author, John Muir who wrote in the 1800s, “The mountains are calling, and I must go.” The family knew they needed to move to the mountains to raise their precious son, Luke.
Once in Asheville, in addition to parenting, Anne completed a Master’s Certificate in Health Information Management certificate from East Carolina University. She wanted to expand her career opportunities in healthcare, transitioning from the clinical role and expanding upon her finance background. Anne worked for Margaret Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, in the Revenue Integrity Department. She continued to work for the hospital, and after Covid, began working remotely. Anne learned a great deal about healthcare operations, insurance laws, regulations, and maintained an integral role in the billing and coding department. It was a difficult transition for Anne to leave but she wanted to work more intimately with others, assisting them in meeting their individual needs. It felt like a natural transition and opportunity for her to accept the position with The Juengel Agency. With her wealth of knowledge and vast transferable skills, Anne is confident she will excel in the insurance industry. She is passionate about assisting others, and knows personally, the significance in protecting oneself with insurance. Each insurance plan is unique, and Anne excels in analyzing and assessing these needs.
When Anne is not busy with work, she is most passionate about being a mom to Luke, 8, and to their fur baby, Dolly, 12. Luke plays soccer for HFC, and basketball and baseball through South Buncombe sports. He attends Veritas Christian Academy in Fletcher, NC. Anne and Luke enjoy hiking in the mountains and visiting family on the lake and the low country of South Carolina. They attend St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville and are blessed to call St. James their church home. Anne enjoys biking (gravel and mountain), tennis, photography, music, and laughing! She looks forward to helping you all with your needs.
